Spain Showcases Its Cultural Heritage at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2025

- Bringing Spain to Mumbai: A Celebration of Art, Music, and Tradition at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2025
The Tourism Office of Spain (Turespaña), in collaboration with the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, successfully brought a touch of Spanish culture to Mumbai through a series of engaging activities. This year’s edition featured three unique events, each celebrating Spain’s artistic and musical traditions while fostering cultural exchange between Spain and India. The highlight of the collaboration was a musical concert by renowned Spanish musician Germán Díaz, held on January 30 at Cross Maidan. Playing the traditional hurdy-gurdy, Germán transported the audience on a musical journey through Spain, blending centuries-old melodies with a contemporary twist. The concert was attended by over 150 guests, who experienced firsthand the richness of Spain’s musical heritage. Continuing the cultural engagement, two interactive workshops were organized to introduce Indian audiences to the artistry of Spain: Spanish Fan (Abanico) Workshop for Adults – February 1 Held as a unique storytelling and craft session, this workshop guided participants through the history and significance of the Spanish abanico, a symbol of elegance and tradition. More than 40 attendees took part, learning to create their own Spanish fans while exploring their cultural context. Joan Miró-Inspired Children’s Art Workshop – February 2 Hosted at the Children’s Museum of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, this creative session introduced children to the vibrant world of Joan Miró, one of Spain’s most celebrated artists. Young participants explored his distinctive style by crafting colorful cat illustrations inspired by his surrealist and abstract approach. The workshop saw an enthusiastic turnout of over 55 children, making it a memorable learning experience that combined Spanish art with hands-on creativity. With its successful participation at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2025, the Tourism Office of Spain in India continues to strengthen cultural ties between Spain and India, inviting Indian travelers to explore Spain’s rich artistic heritage and traditions.
