On March 11, 2024, the Tourism Office of Spain in India hosted a series of successful events aimed at bolstering ties with the Nepalese travel trade industry. Held in Kathmandu, these events served as a platform to showcase Spain as a premier tourist destination and foster meaningful collaborations between travel agents and Spanish travel companies. The day commenced with an engaging audio-visual presentation highlighting the diverse attractions and experiences that Spain has to offer. Attended by 40 travel agents from Kathmandu, the presentation provided valuable insights into the richness of Spanish culture, heritage, and landscapes. Following the presentation, attendees enjoyed a sumptuous buffet lunch, fostering networking opportunities among industry professionals. Distinguished guests included Cónsul Luis Solis from the Embassy of Spain in New Delhi, who delivered a brief address on Spanish visas, and representatives from Spanish travel companies, including Across Spain, Century Incoming, Europamundo Vacaciones, Smart Works, and Travelers Operador Turistico. BLS International provided essential information on the Spain visa application process, further facilitating cooperation between Nepalese travel agents and Spanish tourism authorities. The Director of OET Bombay, Elisa Robles, moderated the proceedings, while her colleague Lisha Krishnan elucidated on the array of tools available to travel agents to effectively promote tourism to Spain. The second segment of the day featured intimate one-to-one workshops with decision-makers from Kathmandu's top nine outbound travel companies. Each meeting, lasting 15 minutes, allowed for in-depth discussions on potential partnerships and collaborations. Spanish travel companies actively participated, engaging with Nepalese counterparts to explore avenues for mutually beneficial ventures. Among the distinguished attendees were Honorary Cónsul of Spain to Nepal, Ambica Shrestha, and Cónsul Luis Solis, who addressed pertinent issues related to Spain visas for Nepalese travelers. The day culminated in a personalized sit-down dinner hosted by the Tourism Office of Spain in India at the iconic Dwarika's Kathmandu, providing a relaxed setting for further networking and relationship-building among industry stakeholders. The events in Kathmandu underscore the commitment of the Tourism Office of Spain in India to strengthen ties with the Nepalese travel trade industry and promote Spain as a top-tier tourist destination.
