On 25 September, New York will host the first “Spain Talks. Caring for the Future”, an event to celebrate the excellence, dedication and innovation of leaders in the American tourism industry, highlighting their commitment to promoting sustainable tourism. This event will be one of the activities organised as part of Climate Week.

CONFERENCES

In its first edition of “Spain Talks”, the Spanish Tourism Office in New York will offer an extensive program of round tables and conferences with the participation of leaders of leading entities and destinations in the tourism field in Spain and the United States. The Spanish Tourist Office is hosting this event focused on sharing valuable experiences and best practices in relation to the main challenges facing major tourist destinations, such as Spain, in promoting responsible tourism. An opportunity for dialogue, collaboration and exchange of knowledge around the main challenge facing our sector today.

The awards given at Spain Talks represent a recognition of excellence and innovation in sustainability in the tourism sector. In order to highlight and celebrate initiatives that promote responsible growth in the industry, the awards are divided into four different categories. Media award. The award for traditional media will recognise the best coverage of Spain as a destination committed to sustainability, highlighting the importance of communication in promoting responsible practices. Ambassador award. The award for the best opinion leader, influencer or content creator will honour the best content that highlights Spain as a destination committed to sustainability, underlining the power of these professionals to generate awareness. Experience award. The award for the best sustainable tourism product will applaud the marketing of packages, experiences and offers that promote sustainable tourism in Spain, emphasizing the importance of offering authentic trips that respect the environment. Business award. The award for the company with the best ESG project will recognise companies' commitment to responsible practices, such as carbon footprint offsetting programmes, recycling, accessibility and inclusion of their employees, fostering a focus on sustainability in all facets of the business.

  • Media Award: For Travel Weekly, for its coverage of Spain as a destination committed to sustainability.
  • Ambassador Award: For Sofía Pérez, an American journalist and activist, defender of sustainability, for highlighting Spain as a benchmark in sustainable tourism.
  • Experiencia Award: For HE Travel, a company specialising in travel for small groups of LGBTQ+ travellers, for its focus on marketing experiences that respect the environment and local communities.
  • Business Award: For MaCher, a company with B Corp certification that supports other tourism companies in their efforts to improve their sustainability, for its commitment to carbon footprint offsetting, recycling and employment inclusivity.
