The Ministry of Industry and Tourism has approved an investment of 207.6 million euros aimed at improving the tourist use of Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC) in Spain. This initiative, part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, will benefit 89 projects in 13 autonomous communities, with Andalusia, the Region of Murcia, Catalonia and the Valencian Community as the main recipients of funds. With 50 World Heritage Sites, Spain is the fourth country in Europe with the highest number of Unesco World Heritage Sites and the fifth in the world.

Minister Jordi Hereu stressed that these subsidies will strengthen cultural tourism. The grants are focused on the conservation, maintenance and rehabilitation of historic properties for their tourist use. They also include improvements in universal accessibility, energy efficiency and sustainability, promoting quality cultural tourism that contributes to the diversification and deseasonalization of the Spanish tourist offer. For the allocation of funds, priority has also been given to destinations at risk of depopulation, seeking to boost their tourism potential and reinforce social and territorial cohesion. Among the planned actions, interventions in emblematic monuments are contemplated, such as the improvement of the Casino of Huesca and the restoration of the Palace of the Barons of Valdeolivos in Fonz, Huesca, which will receive more than four million euros. This investment reflects the Government's commitment to the preservation and enhancement of Spain's historical heritage, recognizing its relevance as a driver of economic development and tourist attraction.
