Turespaña drives the project for restoring 39 Paradores with PRTR-Next Generation funds

TURESPAÑA is driving the projects to perform restoration work on the historic buildings of 39 Paradores through PRTR – Next Generation funds. This unique opportunity to promote the conservation of historic and artistic buildings has received a key boost thanks to funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR)-Next Generation, a European Union programme that promotes economic and social development in the aftermath of the pandemic. Specifically, actions to conserve cultural heritage, including Paradores, are included in Component 14 of this Plan. Many of the buildings of the Paradores affiliated with Turespaña have been declared Property of Cultural Interest, so their conservation is essential to preserve Spain's cultural and tourist heritage. This project therefore fits perfectly with Turespaña's role in promoting Spain as a tourist destination and boosting the economic, social and environmental sustainability of national destinations. These projects will be carried out in 39 Paradores in the autonomous communities of Galicia, Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Castilla-La Mancha, Castile and Leon, Catalonia, Extremadura, Murcia, Madrid, Navarre, the Basque Country and in the autonomous city of Ceuta. The activities will focus on historic areas open to public visits. With this measure, Turespaña reinforces its commitment to the transformation towards sustainability of Spanish tourism.
